Hi, I'm Danielle, an experienced Graphic Designer and User Experience Designer. I’ve spent my last 15+ years helping organizations create visually appealing solutions for digital and print that solve problems, build brand equity and grow revenue.
Although my User Experience (UX) credentials are newer, my background in designing for humans is not. Throughout a significant portion of my career, I have worked as an in-house designer at automotive ad tech companies. In this capacity, I collaborated with stakeholders to help ideate and design products and UI features for proprietary software. Additionally, I led an ongoing project in designing an extensive library of dynamic inventory ad templates and accompanying mockups to showcase my designs in real-world contexts. These mockups were instrumental not only for contextual presentation to our customers but they were also valuable assets for marketing materials.
From 2009 to 2023, I enjoyed success as an In-house Designer and a Marketing Designer, but I felt a strong desire to continue my journey in UX. My interest in User Experience, User Interfaces, Information Architecture and Human Factors began during my time at BCIT while taking the New Media Design & Web Development program. I discovered that I really enjoyed designing layouts and interfaces and for a few years, I worked with a small media company doing just that along with conference and show animations for large screens and point-of-sale screens. As a lifelong learner, in 2017, I decided to explore UX in a more formal sense and completed the UX Essentials course at Red Academy in Vancouver (RIP). Fast forward to 2023, I experienced a layoff alongside many others and decided to use that time as an opportunity to make the leap to pivot my career into UX. After careful consideration and many conversations with family and other folks in the Product Design and UX field, I signed up for and completed my UX Design Diploma with BrainStation in Vancouver.
My greatest motivation lies in creating purposeful designs and collateral that prioritize a frictionless experience for people. I'm thrilled to have transitioned my career into UX, and I'm excited to apply my skills and knowledge to all my future work.
Before my career in digital design, I was an artist first and foremost. I still practice when I find time and create content for my Society6 store. In previous years, I participated in shows at the Ayden Gallery and Hot Art Wet City gallery.
“I had the pleasure of working directly with Danielle as her educator in BrainStation's UX design bootcamp, during the Spring of 2023. Danielle quickly emerged as a leader in the classroom, and consistently produced thoughtful, high-quality projects. I was particularly impressed by Danielle's strategic thinking, creative problem solving abilities, and capacity to manage multiple competing deliverables while navigating the demands of the program. Danielle is a strong designer who possesses a robust UX design toolkit, and would be an asset to any product design team.”
